Annual Budget Vote and Election - May 18, 2021

Notice is hereby given that inhabitants of the Greenville Central School District qualified to vote at the School Meeting in said District will vote on all business in the Scott M. Ellis Elementary School Cafeteria on Tuesday,

May 18, 2021 between the hours of 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM for the transaction of such business as is authorized by Education Law.

Notice is hereby given that the Annual Budget Hearing will be held in the auditorium of the Greenville Central High School in said District on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 7:00 PM for presentation of the 2021-2022 proposed budget.  If Executive Order is extended restricting in-person attendance, visit the District website at www.greenvillecsd.org for YouTube/Google Meet links to participate.

Notice is also given that a copy of the statement of the amount of moneys which will be required for the ensuing year for school purposes, exclusive of public moneys, and a copy of a tax exemption report may be obtained by taxpayers during the fourteen (14) days immediately preceding the May 18, 2021 Annual Vote in the District by visiting the District website at www.greenvillecsd.org and at each schoolhouse location, as well as the District Office.

Notice is also given that petitions nominating candidates for the office of member of the Board of Education must be filed with the District Clerk not later than 5:00 PM on Monday, April 19, 2021 which is the next succeeding business day following the 30th day before the election.

 The following vacancies are to be filled on the Board of Education:

             One (1) seat for Raymond Albin for a three (3) year term expiring June 30, 2024

             One (1) seat for Patricia Macko for a three (3) year term expiring June 30, 2024

            One (1) seat for Tracy Young for a three (3) year term expiring June 30, 2024

A petition is required to nominate a candidate to the office of member of the Board of Education.  Each petition must be directed to the District Clerk and must state the name and residence of the candidate followed by 25 signatures for this election.  The signatures must state the name and residence of each signer.  Blank nominating petitions may be obtained at the District Office between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM and must be submitted to the District Clerk at the District Office by Monday, April 19, 2021 no later than 5:00 PM.

A voter registration day will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 between the hours of 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the elevator lobby of the Scott M. Ellis Elementary School.  Social distancing rules will apply.  Qualified voters may apply for absentee ballots at the District Office.  A list of registered voters and applicants for absentee ballots will be available for public inspection at the District Office five business days prior to the vote between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM.

Notice is also given that the following resolution will be voted on:

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Greenville Central School District is hereby authorized to increase by $553, for a total of $28,195, for the amount to be raised by tax for the support of the Rensselaerville Library.

Notice is also given, that military voters who are qualified voters of the Greenville Central School District may request an application for a military ballot from the District Clerk by mail to ATTN:  Daphane Pearson, P.O Box 129, Greenville NY 12083, by email to pearsond@greenvillecsd.org, or fax sent to ATTN:  Daphane Pearson @ (518) 966-8346.  In such request, the military voter may indicate their preference for receiving the application by mail, fax or email. A military voter must return the original military ballot application by mail to the office of the District Clerk at P.O Box 129, Greenville NY 12083.  In order for a military voter to be issued a military ballot, a valid military ballot application must be received in the office of the District Clerk no later than 5:00 P.M., on April 22, 2021. Military ballot applications received in accordance with the foregoing will be processed in the same manner as a non-military ballot application under Section 2018-b of the Education Law.  The application for military ballot may include the military voter’s preference for receipt of the military ballot by mail, fax, or email. 

Notice is also given, a military voter’s original military ballot must be returned by mail to the office of the District Clerk at P.O Box 129, Greenville NY 12083.  Military ballots shall be canvassed if they are received by the District Clerk before 5:00 p.m. on May 18, 2021 and signed and dated by the military voter and one witness thereto, with a date which is ascertained to be not later than the day before the election.

Notice is also given, a military voter who is not currently registered to vote may apply to register as a qualified voter of the School District by requesting and returning a registration application by April 22, 2021 in order to receive a military ballot application and ballot, or by May 5, 2021 to vote by absentee ballot or in-person.  The request for a registration application may include the military voter’s preference for receipt of the registration application by mail, fax, or email.
