Program and Fitness Links
Students have 40-minute physical education classes every other day. The number of classes is approximately 20-22 per marking period.

Students must change their clothes for physical education. Students need a t-shirt, a pair of athletic pants and/or shorts. Students are encouraged to bring their clothes home weekly for washing. Appropriate clothing for winter activities include: jackets, hats, gloves, and weather suitable foot wear will be required.
Students must wear sneakers and socks for physical education.
For the student and their classmates’ safety, jewelry must be removed prior to physical education. Examples of unsafe jewelry include: Metal hair items, earrings, piercing, necklaces, bracelets, rings and watches.
All students are strongly encouraged to lock their PE lockers and to not share their combinations.
Any student who has been ill or injured and is unable to participate in physical education must have a written note from a parent or doctor’s office indicating they should not take physical education. The note should be turned into the nurse when the student arrives at school. Any student excused for more than one week must have a written note from a physician. Written assignments will be assigned for absences longer than one week and for each week thereafter.
Assignment for extended medical absences
For each week you are absent for extended medical you will be required to write a one page report related to health, nutrition, and/or physical activity.
Reports are due on the Thursday or Friday (depending on which day you have class) of each week you have an extended medical absence.
Remember to put your name on the report and the period number you have physical education class.
Below are a few possible assignment topics:
*Nutrition: Food safety, nutrition trends, weight control/obesity
*Personal Fitness: Benefits of physical activity, managing stress, fitness and your future, cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility
*Health: What is available within our community? What is health (personal level)?
5 points a day will be earned on the following: Attendance, dress, warm-ups, effort, cooperation, sportsmanship, behavior, skill improvement.
Any student who does not dress for class will receive a 0 grade for their daily participation.
Students will need to make up classes that exceed 3 absences per marking period. An absence is anything that removes the student from class. There are no exceptions. If a student is not in class they will not receive the 5 participation points for that class.
Make up classes can come from study halls, before school or after school. It is the responsibility of the student to see their teacher upon return to arrange a make-up schedule. If no make-up time can be arranged other workable arrangements can be made with the teacher.
Written report with the topic assigned by the teacher, mid-term, and final exam.
