Greenville CSD - where everyone Learns, Teaches, Belongs!  Spartan STRONG!

February 26, 2021

Dear Families,

On Tuesday, March 2, we will reach the 100th day of school, and I want everyone to know how proud I am of our students, teachers and staff, and parents!  This year has included numerous challenges, however, by working together we have managed to create an amazing school year for our students!  Thank You… and keep those efforts going!

As we enter the second half of the school year make sure your student has crayons, pencils, scissors, glue sticks, and markers for activities we have planned for the coming months at school.

Our recent Character Education Assembly featured the book, Hidden Figures.  Students learned about the four young, female, black scientists who helped NASA astronauts get safely to the moon. During the assembly students learned:

  • the meanings of several words: stereotype, prejudice, and discrimination

  • to never judge someone by stereotypes - judge only character

  • to set big goals for yourself; work hard and you can achieve great things

Finally, some weather reminders:

  • We go outside for play and fresh air whenever it is 20 degrees or warmer.

  • Students are encouraged to keep a dry outfit in school (in their classroom crate).

  • We sometimes open classroom windows (slightly) to increase access to fresh air throughout the day. Please dress warmly.

Sincerely,

Peter Mahan

Elementary Principal
