Watch Mr. Urban's update!
Today I'm on a school bus, because I'm going to talk to you about transportation. We've got a couple of days under our belt now with transportation at Ellis. So far, it has gone well. We've gotten everybody where they needed to be.
However, we've experienced some delays, and that's what I want to talk about today, because some of these delays were avoidable.
We have some students and families who are getting used to afternoon routines, so I just wanted to review those routines.
It's a good idea, before your student leaves in the morning, to ensure they know what their afternoon dismissal plan is. Are they being picked up? Are they taking the bus?
Please then share that plan with us. We had a number of students last week who not only didn't know where they were going, but when we put them on the bus, it turned out they were to be picked up, and it took us some time to get them off the bus and over to the parent pickup line.
It's as easy as emailing our attendance clerk at esattendance@greenvillecsd.org just to keep us in the loop. The sooner the better. If you could do that first thing in the morning, we'd really appreciate it because the longer you wait, the longer it becomes for us. We use 1:00pm as our cut off time. Please try to have that information to us by 1:00pm. However, we understand emergencies arise and will always be understanding of that.
Your child's safety is most important to us. We are proud that we're one of the only school districts in this area that takes attendance on the bus, and that's for your child's safety. But it means that we need to know where those children are supposed to be, before they get there.
So, please communicate your afternoon plans with us so we can get your child to and from school safely.
I hope you have a great week, we'll talk to you soon!
