Dear Families,

It has been great to have a full week of school! This week our fourth grade students have been busy building miniature Dutch houses to “show what they know” about local history and our area's strong Dutch heritage.  Thank you to our students and fourth grade teachers!

The second marking period will end in two weeks. Although this year is not typical (in any way), we are pleased with the growth students have made.  As teachers prepare classroom report cards, we will also complete iReady updates for reading and math growth.  The last day of the quarter is Friday, January 29.  Report cards will be available for parent download at 9am, Thursday, February 11.  Directions to download report cards will be reshared at that time.

This year has been full of challenges, but we continue to be encouraged by the positive feedback parents have provided. Thank you for sharing stories of how your children are looking forward to school each day!

As we have seen Covid-19 rates rise (and recently subside a little), we know that elementary school parents have made careful decisions regarding in-person and remote instruction.  Sometimes parents have questions about their decisions, and how these decisions might impact their children and families.  Please know that we welcome these conversations. Mrs. Esannason, Mr. Hash, and I are eager to offer information or support as we walk through the winter months together.

Please remember, we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 18 (school will be closed), and reopen on Tuesday, January 19. Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Peter Mahan

Elementary Principal
